My musical career

Playing the bagpipes
I started playing the bagpipes at the age of 5 in 1953. My father was an enthusiastic bagpipe player and music listener. Inspired by him, Puri “played the fly” in me too. Already at the age of five, I started studying the hanuri under the guidance of my father. My first mobile game was “Elomaaan”. As skills and knowledge accumulated, my father’s teachings were no longer enough. I applied and got to learn e.g. from the teachers mentioned below

Raimo Nieminen 1958-1960
Raimo Rantanen 1960-1963
Arvo Nyström 1963-1966
